As an e4/e5 player, what are some gambits and opening traps that I should look into?

Just curious, as I recently had the Scotch gambit played against me while I was black, and I severely misplayed the opening. I would love some ideas on a bunch of common gambits or perhaps even uncommon ones that may be counter-intuitive. Opening traps against me while playing as white would be lovely to know as well. I'm roughly a 900-1000 rapid player and am looking to work on my openings.

You should be careful with the Stafford gambit

If you now take, 4.Nxc6, you are in a world of hurt if black knows what he's doing.

(Taking on Nxc6 is something like +2 for white... but only if you are like a 2500+ player, or an engine. If you are a mere mortal, you are in a world of trouble, if black knows his game.)

Might be easier to just retreat with 4.Nf3

You should not look into anything at all, just play the opening slowly and carefully. Whenever you lose a game, analyse it so as to learn from your mistakes. As for all the gambits: just accept them and defend carefully. If you succeed, then you win. If you fail, then you learn.

Most gambits have many traps, rather than just one trick, so I find it better to look into them rather than hoping I don't run into them.

Do not fear the cheap tricks. Just think carefully. It is pointless to prepare for everything that might happen. What you study will not happen and when it finally happens you will have forgotten. Just solve your problems over the board as they happen.

Look the gambits up after you fell for them. That way you'll improve.

If you're having trouble with the Stafford Gambit consider switching to 3 d4 in the Petrov

I play e5 and Kings gambit can get pretty messy if you take the pawn I can't help you with lines though because I never looked at them myself.

Danish gambit as well can be popular.

Kings Gambit, at least at my level is extremely rare, and for the most part I'm pretty sure you can just take the pawn and play Nc6 or something and get away with it.

All gambits are rare but played just enough for us to remember getting owned by them.
