No, they respond in statements on their site. I've just edited that this point is not addressed there. Further clarification is therefore needed, preferably by another chess, com statement.
This is NOT a topic to discuss the recent ongoings in the world. That is not allowed by the terms and conditions of this site. The sole topic of this thread is to ask chess.com for clarification on how they will respond and how they will enforce their rules.
Chess as a sport is part of the IOC. Yesterday the IOC has urged, amongst other things, that during no sporting events the Russian or Belarussian flag will be displayed. Currently chess.com is showing country flags.
Chess.com, please clarify:
1. Will certain flags be removed from your site following the IOC decision? They could be (temporarily) replaced by the IOC flag under which Russian sporters have competed during the Olympics.
2. Will there be leniency for the hundreds of players that will abort their games when paired with an opponent flying the flags of one of these 2 countries?
Again, this is NOT a political thread. This is not about right or wrong, this is just asking to see what 'we' will do to uphold the appeals of the IOC and how the rules of the site will be enforced.
EDIT: this point has not been addressed in the recent statement from chess, com on the matter.
