At 43, is it too late for Ivanchuk?

Despite the fact that Vassily Ivanchuk recently won the Capablanca Memorial tournament, he is playing tournament chess less and less. Now at 43 have we seen the best of the Ukranian? never to be crowned a chess champion. Some of his games show a kind of imagination few could ever possess. Take a look at this article Ivanchuk's Invention that includes the ridiculous Qg7 move against Shirov. Has there ever been any player as talented to never become world champion?

Not sure I think Korchnoi has him beat on that area. Keres was also good but Korchnoi was a world class contender for decades and was probably robbed of the title at least once. break even in a world championship match against Karpov! top 100 player until  he was 70+ ! he has my vote and he is funny as heck too!

Korchnoi and Paul Keres come to mind as being two of chess' best players to have never become World Champion. Ivanchuk I would have to say is up there and with his well known erratic play and mood swings, I don't think he'll ever reach that plateau.
