At what elo should you take Chess seriously?

I think that around the 800 range learning opening is about the write time anything before that doesn’t make the game enjoyable for beginners

I think 600 is where you should learn some openings, but 2000+ is where you should really consider professional chess.

I agree with TheSampson with 2000+ being a good time to consider really studying hard if you haven’t started yet
But just taking it seriously I’d say around 1300 because by then you are probably better than most people you know and enough practice in the right areas of the game could really improve play
But again any rating you can take it seriously and just study hard enough to get better

Don't study oppenings. Just develop your pieces, castle and connect the rooks. Study how to play after that.
