Avoid Trap Lesson

I just did the Avoid Trap lesson. I tried Qd1. It continues to protect d3 and shields Q from attack. I don't like that it blocks rook comms. The lesson likes Qe2 to make it more active and double open file. I see that but also saw black Re8 forces Q to move again and lose active and double. I went to analysis and computer picks my Qd1. Can anyone explain why Qe2 is better?

This is the lesson I'm referring to: https://www.chess.com/lessons/view/2010

Here is the position

i think when they created this they created this for people your level not for stockfish. Qc1 or Qd1 win for white in 15 moves or something after a very specific continuation. probably wins for white if the opponent isn't an engine.

Qe2 and then Qf1 allows rooks to be connected.

Compare the number of squares influenced. Not only by the queen, but by the two rooks.

Qd1 diminishes both rooks, and the queen has only 3 squares it can move to from there.
