Pretty much all of those i have heard.
The saddest one is: "I want you to teach my son to be a winner."
oh no.

i really hate being screamed at or just yelling if i dont win a trophy or something
WTF? Who yells at someone for not winning a trophy
my parents as well lol...not that proficient in chess for trophy lvl, but in other stuff =)
is it math competitions
that's one of em lol =)
most are said by my mom, my dad knows chess..he taught me =)
not my parents but one of my grandparents who had heard from my dad that I was "really good at chess," when I was 1000 rapid on lichess, and he took me to a chess tournament primarily of 1300-1500 obt rated players, and was unhappy when I lost to a 9 year old girl rated 1650 -_-
Oh yeah, when you’re a guy and lose to a girl and people go “wow you lost to a GIRL!?!?” Like damn ok
I used to work with 2 friends on Fridays teaching chess to kids, or anyone that wanted to learn and or improve. One night some schmuck of a father shows up with is kid. The kid throws his arms up and announces: "Who is your best player?"
So i had this kid Evan play him. Evan beat him in 15 moves. Dad and the kid walked out without saying a word. And we never saw them gain.

and not just that, she was rated like 1100 points higher than me, playing white like wtf am I supposed to do (also this was my first every obt tournament that wasn't just a just-for-fun elimination tournament for 5 dollars to the winner)
Let me guess. Evan wasn’t your best player?
I think at the time he was rated around USCF 800. But the difference was that Evan was taught to take his time. This other kid was an obvious product of online speed chess. Smack talk, slam the pieces down, and move fast.

update: just checked out of curiousity. she just got her 1st NM Norm around 2 months ago
I kinda hate it when parents get mad at their kids for losing a game. A lot of the time they probably don’t even know how to play, and if they do they’re probably bad and don’t understand how hard chess is.
I remember when I was a kid my dad would beat me every time. I was rated around 800 but I thought he was a god. I’d be like “dad you’re so good you’re like 2000” but then he’d say “no I’m more like a 900”
He’s more like a 900.
How old were you? I just want to know if I have a shot at getting around 2000, that's my goal. (eventually)

I've never seen or experienced this. It sounds horrible, maybe they should challenge their parents to a game.

Yeah bruh, everyone knows, 'You can't pick your friends, but you can pick your family.'

Luckily my parents aren't like that, but there are parents who do that.
