Lol!
Reesedog a good chessplayer.
But to be fair, a ban should have an expiry limit (at least, the first ban for an offense). Does one month sound fair enough? And perhaps one year for the 2nd offence.

Played somone in a 5 l 0 blitz and they disconnected after making 2 terrible moves. I called them a name because I was drunk and being stupid. Now I'm "kicked from live chess". How long does this last?
Never do it again and you wont be banned. Kicked usually means 1 day
Our system warns first, if that warning is ignored, it then prevents you from chatting for 60 minutes. If after that you swear again it removes you from live chess for 30 minutes.
ooh, soft touch -- so, if you're about to log out anyway, the 'penalty' might not be felt (at all).

I am currently playing in Sarah's Summer Tournament (On Line Chess). When I clicked on "Standings", the Status column showed most of the players still active, one player withdrew, many were eliminated, but three players, all with a perfect score (10-0-0) were removed. Can anybody explain what that means? Why were they removed?
Did you check to see if their accounts are still active, Larry? And yes, sometimes you have to check here also:

Thanks for your input, baddogno.
I am amazed at how many cheaters have been banned in the last week alone.
I am thankful that chess.com is taking care of these things!
I had a question related to warnings, and such. I have noticed that a couple of times I have played and the person ended up disconnecting from the game... and ran out the time limit so that it aborted. My question is this... Is there something in place that, if your internet isn't the best and happens to go down on you mid game, and you can't get back on in time, that the system will not think you are abusing or whatever?
Was curious about this, because sometimes the internet where i am decides to act up and the thought occured to me that maybe i am not the only one, and wouldn't it be frustrated to get warned/banned because of your internet connection.
Wow this is crazy because im reading some of the comments and u guys are saying being banned lasts for a short term well what is it when u haven't been able to chat fir months
I am with Java - I live in the middle of nowhere and am on a wireless connection - my daughter has been disconnected from several games because our connection dropped out which is why I am wary of playing live games ... is there anything we can do to let you know it is our connection and not us???
Thanks for your input, baddogno.

Yes, but there are so 'many', it begs the question: is there more than one person involved? I mean, might the same person keep coming back with a new handle?

How does the system decide whether a player is cheating by deliberately disconnecting or there is a genuine problem of Internet connectivity?
There does seem to be a problem with internet connectivity. I live in New York City and you would think we would have better internet service, but we are blessed with Verizon here, and they seem to care only about the services that make lots of money for them such as FIOS and cell phones and they are not interested in servicing us poor folks on DSL. I even pay extra for better service and a faster speed and still get disconnected from time to time.

I got warned some weeks ago. A week later I was kicked without further explanation from live chat for at least 60 minutes. How is that possible?
