Becoming top blogger

I have a blog, intended to showcase fun checkmates and my comedic misadventures.

So far the games are just mine but I intend to get around to master games.  I requested to be considered for listing as top blogger since I blog regularly and try to make the content and photos lively and entertaining.  But have gotten zero response.  Ask pending now for weeks.  Anything else I can do?

Do your blogs meet the requirements and have you filled out the form? If so, it is possible the site doesn't feel they are a good fit.

ginzbirdman

Yup, did form.  That is possible but I've gotten no feedback.  The form suggests the bar is set pretty low.  My posts far exceed what they seem to want at a minimum.

ginzbirdman

That's what I'm trying to bring!  But everybody is so serious around here.

Did you read the FAQ linked in that article? It has this:

I blog regularly and I filled out your form, why haven't I been listed yet? If you review our standards and believe your blog is worthy of top blogger consideration, and you have at least five recent blogs that follow our guidelines above, you can open a support ticket with the subject line: Top Blogger consideration.

All of the above and now sent several tickets.  All I hear is

If you want to write about chess, then write about chess. (Crackle crunch) If you want to become famous writing about chess, then you probably have at least two loose screws.
ginzbirdman

I like writing but would feel more motivated with more than ten or so viewers.

CoachTortoise
Have you tried using Twitter, Facebook, etc... to promote your articles?
ginzbirdman

I'm blogging on chess.com.  not sure how Twitter or FB would apply.

Of course some might say: Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.  But I have a more optimistic view at this time.

ginzbirdman

Marketing to the general public makes no sense because chess.com requires membership to view the blog. Marketing to the chess.com community makes more sense, but provided I jump the low bar set, I should get the status that will give me more eyeballs.  At least according to chess.com.  but thanks for trying.

ginzbirdman

Hold on partner.  I have tried to view a blog from outside the site by following url to blog.  The link redirected me to membership.

ginzbirdman

Yes.

ginzbirdman

Maybe I am mistaken?  I'm not aware of a blog viewing membership.

ginzbirdman

Ok.  But you still have to join.  Point taken though.  Thanks!

ginzbirdman

All excellent suggestions.

If your unhappy with the terms, maybe try a different platform for your blog. Still, hard to complain when this site gives you access to 30,000,000 members in your target market. But there are plenty of free blogging options out there.
