Hey guys I have been a fan of chess and a member here for a long time I wanted to get very involved in chess in the past, however, I lost interest when I couldn't find people to play with but just stayed on and played for fun 5min chess only. I, however, quit my job and entered the seminary and when I got there I have found a few people to play with and am now determined start learning again. Got a paid membership over Christmass dusted off the Silman books and am starting back up with training. I have retained knowledge of basic tactics Fork, Skewer, Pin, and so forth. I have also retained basic opening principles And some openings (first couple moves of the English opening, Queens gambit accepted, Spanish game, KId).
the place I am probably lacking is:
Pattern recognition
openings for black (I usually differ the center as black build up a defence and prepare for counterplay)
and position play
Anyone have any suggestions on where to start beyond practicing tactics? What videos and Lessons?
Thanks!
