Given that chess is not solved we do not know. We can speculate though. Probably every opening move by white is equally good, in a sense that they'll all result in a draw with the best play from both sides.

But if your question is about which opening is best for you, then I'd say it is the one you enjoy the most. Pick the opening you like, not the one that someone told you is the best.

It is not true that almost everyone plays 1. e4. Approximately as many players play 1. d4 as 1. e4.

Yes, e4 is played slightly more often as d4. By a small margin. And e4 is played less than all other moves combined.

GM plays it, I play it, thousands of people plays it, I bet u play it, chess staffes plays it, some dumb begginners plays it, masters plays it. Im not saying just this website, I'm saying that almost everyone plays it in chess not just this website
