I think the Italian opening is the best because White occupies the center before Black and has an advantage over Black.
There is no such thing as a BEST OPENING?! There are Worst Opening Categories for those weird openings such as the Cow Etc., but when it comes to those solid standard openings for both white and black all are equally good if the practitioner as taken the time to study its depths Magnus Carlsen is an example of this having used everything from 1.d4 -1.e4 - 1.Nf3 - 1.C4 -1.F4 and as Black: 1e5 - 1.Nf6 - 1.d5 - 1.C5 - 1C6 it's all down to you knowing what your doing more than your opponents may not!!
