Best way to keep getting better at chess with too many options to choose from?

I know that I should play games with longer time controls and to analyze them. Is that alone enough to keep getting better without needing to do any puzzles, read any books, or take any courses if I do it for about 4 hours everyday? There’s just so many books and courses out there, it’s kind of off putting for two reasons: 1. I don’t know which one to get and 2. would just one good book be enough?

I don’t care for rote memorization of openings or lines. I would rather just focus on improving my understanding and calculation.

You can always use some help from stronger players out there to improve visualisation, and pattern recognition.

Whatever learning method appeals to you is probably the best one for you. You can collect a lot of books and courses, but eventually you will have to drill down into one intensively if you really want to get everything out of it. I would say, try a few different approaches and then make a commitment to the one that works best.
