It's mostly a matter of practice and repetition.
If you want to get better at speed chess - play more speed chess. I generally believe that one should stay away from bullet, though, if they truly want to improve (bullet is just sloppy, fast-paced madness).
It's fun, but it's also chaos.
But whatever timer you play, make an effort to analyze your games, afterward. Try to find your mistakes and missed opportunities - and try to find what you could have played, instead.
This is where your learning happens. If you skip that step, your improvement will take much longer.
Play more. Analyze more.
Hi!
I'm 60 years old and picked up chess for real about a year ago. I have played perhaps 200-300 games in my life before that. I have about 1750 in daily, 977 in Rapid and 450 in bullet. I'm a bit frustrated over my poor performance in the faster games. My question: Is this wide span normal at all? Is it normal for elderly players?
What can you guys recommend to me to close the gap towards my "real" rating (=daily)/ Thank you in advance! :-)
