God damn it.
Bishop Vs Knight: Endless Battle

The knight is worth more in the opening and middlegame, or similarly in closed positions because the bishops tend to get locked in. The knight therefore can jump to the squares it needs to and manouvre more easily. In open positions or endgames, the bishop tends to impact a lot more as it can close diagonals and prevent passed pawn from promoting which can move around a lot faster than a knight.
It really depends on the situation.

Knights are best in closed positions, Bishops are best in open positions. Bishops can get an edge in endgames with pawns on both sides of the board, knights are better in endgames with pawns on the same side. Bishops enjoy the benefit of being a long range piece, but have a down side of being restricted to a single color. Bishops work best with rooks, knights work best with queens. They are equal.
The 2 bishops are a bonus, but bishop against knight is purely the measure of the ability of the player.

Of course it depends on the position. But overall, the Bishop seems to have a slight edge. See John Watson's "Secrets of Modern Chess Strategy".
The only positions where the Knight is consistently better are where the Bishop is "bad", and that means not only blocked by its own pawns but also restricted in space.

Hey Guys/Girls am I was just wondering which do you think is the more important piece The Knights Or The Bishop? or do you think they are both very important in the wonderful game of Chess?
both
Is it possible to start an online chess game on chess.com and customize the starting position? I'd like to play someone an unrated game in which one of side doesn't have bishops and the other doesn't have knights.

That sounds like a good experiment right away, but it would then negate the effectiveness of the knight. I find knights to be more effective when there are more pieces on the board, weaving in and out of attack lines, and eliminating that enviorment i believe would give an immediate advantage to the player with the bishops. I also think 4 bishops could dominate too much of the board. Of course skill is the ultimate factor...
