I believe there is a slight advantage to being white, but it's very small. I think the ratio of white to black is like 50.1:49.9.
Black=loss?
Seems to me that at the highest level when a player has the black pieces they play and are satisfied with a draw. If a win is there of course they go for it, but a draw would be just fine. When they have the white pieces though they seem to be playing for a win from the beginning. Now I'm talking about top GMs. The smaller fish like ourselves I'd hope we all are playing for wins regardless of the color pieces we have.
Hi. Many players won in chess with black and white. But I have found out that some players are telling black means loss.
