Meh, I just treat blitz like a long tactics trainer. I think the only thing blitz ruins is the ability to play blitz lol. But if you can't transition to longer games without problems then, well, you have some problems.
Blitz ruins your chess. period

Oh no, his blitz rating dropped 5 points? Truly a cautionary tale for the ages
That's a non-illustration of how blitz ruins chess. It's common to pre-move in this way and in doing blunder due to an uncommon move by your opponent.
The way blitz ruins chess is when the thought process creeps into your long play. No not this "I'll move here regardless" crap, that was just being lazy. I mean when you're actually trying and there are inefficiencies and errors in your calculation and evaluation processes.

+1 agreed.
A few days ago I found the most compelling proof that blitz ruins someone's chess.
I was watching a strong player on FICS who is 2000 on there at a long time limit. As white he played:
I hope that this has done what I intend because I am a 37 years young Gen X er who was brought up on letters and stamps. It should show a centre counter [ yes i will never call it a blasted scandinavian at my age] 1. e4 d5 2. e4 x d5 Qxd5 3. Nc3 Qc5?! 4. Bc4??
Now, I asked the white player if it was a fingerslip later on. He said no, rather * he was going to move the bishop there regardless of what black did". Huh???????
Prior to this he had been playing a lot of blitz.
This blunder knocked him down from about 2010 to 2005.
Blitz. It ruins your chess. The proof was right here.
