Blitz side tournaments @ OTB Tourneys...Good or bad?

I love blitz, but I feel it may be distracting/harmful to one's play if one participates in this side tourney before playing in a serious OTB tournament.

Thoughts?

I get that point of view and have done so before. It's been a while since I've done an OTB tourney. I play mostly blitz online.

I suppose I am concerned that playing a bunch of blitz games may negatively train your brain to think quickly and less positionally before the main event.

The adrenaline rush is sort of my concern though. On one hand it could wake one up, but isn't it also a risk it may unbalance you for your long games?

edit: no doubt the blitz tournaments are very fun!
