Different people have different ability. Enjoy whatever you have. For me it is otherway, I do well in bullet, next blitz and then standard.

Cool

A few ideas:

- Decrease the %age of Hope Chess in your slow games. In other words, the day you notice your opponent's checks/captures/threats on each move instinctively, (taking less < 1-2 seconds) and can calculate (maybe 2-3 ply) far enough to ensure that you can meet those threats, your blitz will dramatically improve.

-The best blitz players happen to be great slow players ... so practice playing a lot of slow games to burn patterns into your head.  This will help you play with "instant recall" during your blitz.

- With blitz, the key is time management and giving your opponent problems to solve. They don't have to be tough / unsolvable problems, just those that burn time. Therefore, playing risky + unsound openings usually has high returns at blitz...especially if you can rattle off the moves quickly and your opponent does not know the theory and has to actually spend time finding safe moves.

I was lucky to once scalp an NM using the Danish Gambit at a 5-0 game back when I was a 1300 USCF player ... so yeah ... dubious openings actually work at the club level with blitz/bullet time controls.
