Botvinik System. 3 questions

Hello, everyone. I was wondering what people though about the Botvinik system. I am a true beginner (although I think I'm a pretty fast learner) and I've been trying it out. The system taught me quite a bit about how the pieces, when put into a position to succeed, compliment each other.

1. How effective is the system, overall? Can I build the long-term foundation of my game on it?

2. What defenses should I be particularly wary of in this system?

3. Are there any good systems for black? I'd love to have a go-to defense, as well.

Thanks for your replies!

Yes, I go with the English opening. Second move is the Nc3 or g2 depending what my opponent does. Basically I aim to get knights on e2 and c3, fianchetto my f bishop, and pawns on e4 and c4.

Seems like a solid base?
