Brilliant Moves

I suppose a good follow up question would be: "What are the defining characteristics of a move that make it Brilliant?"
I've had the odd Brilliancy in my games, but every time it's usually some exchange-sacrifice that leads to a winning position. Is that all there is to it, because sometimes Brilliant Moves seem somewhat easy to spot. (Obviously not all the time, but occasionally something like recapturing a piece in order to create a fair trade is considered Brilliant despite it being a completely obvious move).

Brilliants are sacrifices that are good or best. There is some rating based determination as well, so not all sacrifices will be brilliant.
