Hi everyone! I'm a bit stressed at losing in bullet so I would like to know an easy way to improve!

Do hyper bullet, 30sec matches to improve your speed. I have done those before normal bullet tournaments and it helps. But it naturally depends on if you are willing to sacrifice some elo if faced with speedier competition in hyper... and it doesn't give you league points if u want those (I am over that after winning legend league).

Listening to high tempo music helps too + coffee ☕️ Never play if you're tired, u end up loosing a lot of elo.

Having a memorized tactic & being confident about it gives an advantage & speed + having back up plans (memorized variations) helps if things don't go your way.

Don't ask me how to get a great elo in bullet - I have won over 2000 matches but also lost over 2000 matches so it's 400. I have only done well in individual bullet tournaments, nr.4 and 7x2. Nr.9 in hyper on first try.

Bullet is fun, but doesn't help with improving tactics since most games end with timeout, rapid is better for that. Rapid is also more serious so if you're having fun with bullet - go for it!
Fun is underrated, it's the juice of life. But if you're not having fun anymore it's time to take a break from bullet & do something else for a while.

Oh I forgot about Lichess 15 second hyper tournaments... U can practice speed with those without loosing elo here!

Just quit bullet, it’s not helping you improve in real chess.

Because over 50% of players will go for the quick attacks it's statistically better to focus on defense. Although saying this I realize more people will change their tactics and it could mean that there will be more defense players 😁 But... attacking is still in many people's nature and they won't give it up so easily (I think). Anyway best of luck with the games 🍀 I am doing more other aspects of chess now so it doesn't matter if I share my bullet secrets.

Practice a lot of puzzles for a better gameplay with intuitive skills -> Improves the moves you play

& to work on speed as @DareTower said practice ultrabullet or 30s chess on lichess

My puzzles are already elite rank and it's 2800 rating

Don't do bullet

Only when you get into time scrambles in rapid or 5 min blitz often

That's...not gonna work he needs to calculate faster so he should practice with faster and faster blitz after getting good at each one

Smaller jumps are better not one huge jump

I have lost most games directly after doing puzzles because it weakens speed to think too much about your moves. At least never do puzzles directly before a bullet tournament!

Yeah puzzles help with recognizing situations, but the moves have to be fast so moving is more intuitive than thinking based. I have had to learn how to not think too hard after doing too many puzzles. Doing the super fast games helps with that but there's always a possibility you start to think too much in normal bullet if you have done a lot of puzzles recently. Naturally doing puzzles help with slower games more.

Eating healthy and plant based naturally increases the blood flow to the brain and helps with focus. Physical exercise and good sleeping habits help too. If thinking larger beyond chess.

How can u even have time for long calculations on bullet? 😅 Oh well do that if it rocks your boat 🛶 I understand that in slower games you gotta think many steps ahead, but this is bullet we are talking about and beating all the fast players. Focusing on speed and staying alive with a good defense can be a good strategy. You don't learn chess with it much that I fully admit! But it's fun as a contrast to the normal chess where the best calculators win.

I'm sorry I don't like the word calculations since I suck at math. I'm occasionally very good at visual patter recognition instead, depending on the day.

Here's what most experienced chess people want u to do: first learn everything there is about chess, spend years studying only afterwards you are "allowed" to have fun with bullet when you have lost all the fun in chess otherwise, as a last resort to feel a bit of happiness again.

It's not worth it to care too much about what others think. Focus on what you like to do, what makes you feel alive. Sure you can divide your time and do best of both worlds. But it is tricky when it comes to having speed regarding bullet. Sadly that can deteriorate with time. Seize the moment when you are doing great. When the fun stops it's time to do other things.
