Bullet Madness
*and pretend like I actually hurt there feelings or something. It's ridiculous yet I keep going back even though it makes me hate the chess community. How do you guys deal with this issue and how to you kick the disease known as bullet and the madness that comes with it.
Obviously some people can play it in a healthy way but I would say most humans are like myself in this manner.
It's so much fun because of flow.

Basically it's not too challenging to be frustrating, but not too easy to be boring.
It's emotionally upsetting because, well, that's all you man. You need to work on that.
Of course some games piss me off to lose (usually when they play badly all game and then win in the end because of a silly blunder on my part). Maybe I'm a little tilted for 1 game, but after that I forget about it, on to the next one.
And yeah, I try to crush the opponent mercilessly, so I can relate to "ripping the opponent up," but not in an angry way, just in a focused way.

I guess what I mean is, nearly all my games I'm trying to crush my opponent mercilessly, but I'm not mad, and it doesn't negatively affect my play. I'm just competitive and focused.
And when I get mad, I'm saying it might screw me up for 1 game. Does that make us the same? Sure, whatever, I'm just clarifying.

you can set "Game Chat" to "Nobody" so it will auto disable chat at the start of the game. That way you wont have to see rude messages.
As for rude players, I don't know, I meet maybe 1 out of every 100 I see, so I have to think you're exaggerating, or provoking them, or there are more rude players at your rating than mine.

It only upsets you if you let it upset you. Just limit your playing time.

I already have it disabled, I'm just trying to be an advocater. Your game play and opinion isn't invalid, and I'm not sure what your rating it but mine is about 1400 and I find it hard to see decency in my group. Honestly it makes more since at higher levels because your actually good enough to be somebody in chess so the competition makes more sense, but at my level. I mean maybe I'm wrong but I think it's foolish to think that someone like myself who's main arsenal is the dutch opening and freaks out 5 moves into the scilian doesn't have a lot of hope to be a good player, so I feel that hyper competition and mean spritied play makes no sense. I'm not saying my critics are wrong I'm just trying to do what I can to make vile mean players not welcome. Call me and hippie or a pansy and I can agree to that but I'm sure I'm not alone.
I think the big egos are at both extremes.
You have people who aren't good enough to realize how bad they are. Maybe they beat their friends and family members, so they think they're great, but they're actually a beginner.
Then you have people who are professionals, or have otherwise worked hard for many decades, and they develop an ego.
You're getting pretty close to the middle, so I think you should see it less and less.
