When you have bought either the pieces or the board you need to buy the size that fits the other half of the equation! regards
Buying chess sets

I know that. I'm buying two sets with both pieces and board. One is a wooden set for home playing, while the other one is a plastic set for carrying purposes, such as camps and so on.
But then I can't decide if I should buy the larger wood set and skip the training CD for now, or if I should buy a smaller wood set and buy the training CD now.
Happy New year KHavn, Then the only thought I can offer is how rare is the large wooden one and what is your rating? I wish you luck.

Hey Khavn, Happy New Year!!
Though I'm not in a favor of buying a plastic chess set as they looks very creepy in front of wooden pieces and sets. I have bought an awesome chess set and I'm very satisfied with the built quality, its price and quick delivery. Rest there are many options available online/offline. You may get confused the more research you do. Anyways, my best wishes :)
Good Luck !!
Hello! I'm looking to buy me a couple of chess sets. One plastic pieces with vinyl (or what it now is) board, and one wooden pieces and board.
I can't really decide on whether to go big on the wooden board and buy a Staunton nr. 5, or if I should save a bit on the wooden one and get a DGT chess lessons box together with the plastic one. In that case I'm thinking of buying a Staunton nr. 4 - but this has fields that are 10mm smaller! And I would like to buy it as big as possible, without buying the Staunton nr. 6 which is too expensive at the moment.
So what is your thoughts on this. Should I buy the smaller board and get the training CD, or should I go bigger now and maybe get the training CD later at some point?
