Can a chess addict have a girlfriend?

Hi everyone,

We all know how chess can become addictive and in this forum topic we will dive into analyzing if there is time left. or means for a chess amateur, or not, to develop a relationship with a girlfriend. The dilemma usually is that if you want to do something good, you need to concentrate all your attention on that thing. For example, you want to play a good chess and to improve substantially, then you don't have time for a girlfriend and viceversa. Do you agree and why, either way?

You are so dam right! Because whatever you do is not good enough, if you have a girlfriend and, check this out, my favorite quote is from a girl(friend): "The people you think you care about, don't care about you, Go alone in life, it's better than company;" Can you believe it?

Do not agree. If  you are giving so much attention to chess that you cannot have a girlfriend--something is seriously wrong with you!Undecided

So, if I understood correctly, you said that we should have time for both, right?

I tend to agree with you! Everything is so complicated these days that require all your time and attention to do something really good, either having a girlfriend, or to become good on chess. Otherwise, you will be forever a mediocre and I am puzzled to see people since 2007 in here which never got over 1200. I think these guys do both lol

Given ur rating I seriously doubt that u are spending too much time on chess.same can be said for me too

That could be true for a master or a gm

If the girl is really *special* concentrate on her. It's easier to recover from losing some chess games than it is to recover from losing someone who is an important part of your life. Best of luck in your choices!

Yeah, but any of us to get there we need to work hard on chess. The question is can we get there with a girlfriend?

That's funny to say that. Apparently, I thought that I can do both, but she chose for me. She didn't believe that I felt in love with her in here, on the site, and she blocked me, ha.

I noticed the only friends you have on your profile page are only attractive women.Hmm,do yuo think maybe she did too? LOL

Remember when your openings were unsubtle and your mid-games were easily beaten? Relationships need practice too. Go play a few games and smile when you lose.
