Hello everyone. I want to become a very good chess player. But I am very weak in strategy. So can anyone suggest me some? I want to study them. I will be thankful for your help.

Just get Lev Alburt's "Chess Strategy for the Tournament Player."  If you go beyond that, then you can do more complicated books.  Many of the recommendations given above are simply well beyond your capability right now.  The chess.com stuff, mentioned above, could be helpful to you, too.

I agree with Milliern. Chess Strategy for the Tournament Player is terrific and well written. It's not a "kids book" but it is so lucid and easy to read that one almost feels capable of finding the moves that were played in the GM games. I haven't really studied it yet but I highly recommend it.

Yep.  It's got the basics, and discusses them very well.  I'm still not good strategically, in the grand scheme of things, but the book got me rolling from the very bottom of the rating barrel to B-Class.  Officially, I started at 1100, but I was more like a 900, considering I had an opponent resign when he was a piece up and another accept a draw in a winning position.

Coakley's - Chess Strategy for Kids is also excellent.  Plus it comes with cute pictures. The title is a misnomer though.  It's pretty comprehensive as it covers endgame, tactics, and openings as well.

The Quality Chess version is better and even includes a postscript and some of Kasparov's analysis correcting some of Nimzowitsch's lines.  It's also written in the originally intended style and not some watered down style meant to appease middle class western tastes.

I have the Original Edition that was given to me by my Father way back in 1992. But simply recommended the 21 st edition thinking that updates may have been added. ???

This book would be a good second chess book (I have it). Very true that it covers tactics quite a bit and is very suitable for adults. It will take you a long time to get through it most likely, and you may want to have a chess board with you to work through some of the longer lines.

Besides studying books may I suggest you watch chess videos? I really like Dan Heisman's videos on ICC. For the price of one book you could become a member of ICC and be able to view those videos. They helped me, so maybe they will help you also.

I wish I could go back in time, Morgan Freeman style, and talk some sense into my beginner chess self and tell him to stop wasting his time worrying about strategy and positional play.

So close.  In my head, I read this in Morgan Freeman's voice.

Don't worry about strategy yet. One can easily play to 2000+ strength with little knowledge of the subject, I am living proof of that.

Instead, concentrate on the fundamentals:

1. Basic mates.

2. A couple of ways of opening the game, with each colour.

3. Reduce the incidences of dropped material.

4. Combinations and tactics.

OP, what Doggy said.

Do these four things and you need one strategy.  In one chapter or less your strategy should be:

I will not leave my pieces or pawns hanging.  I will capture material then simplify, promote, and mate.

The end.

Once that gets you to about 1500ish read anything recommeded here or something by Silman.  I like "Reassess..."  If you don't get to 1500 read Doggy's post again.

Modern Chess Strategy by Pachman. I would never recommend My System.

This might explain why your rating is so low? Maybe you should try MY System yourself and bring that rating way UP mister ? I'm just sayinSealed

From my experience as a user of Amazon Kindle I think pretty much all of the highest rated and top sold books about Chess strategy on their site are excellent books. Kindle lets download samples of books. I downloaded probably 20 or 30 and looked over the beginning of each book and read the commentary or strategy advice. They all seem pretty good. My favorite are books by John Nunn, Yasser Seirawan, of course Silman, and any of those people with Russian or Eastern European names. Unless it is some obscure or poorly translated book they all will benefit you since nearly all of them are written by chess masters or generally pro players. In my opinion the biggest trick is to know in advance what type of content the book offers and to what level chess player it is aimed for. A book where games are analyzed move by move are one thing and books where general strategy and theories are explained is different. But they'll both be talking about strategy of the game. Both types are very helpful in my opinion. Or at least it feels like I learn something from them.

What rating? A few blitz games I abandoned during the first few moves?

Don't sell yourself short.  It takes real applied effort to get down to 692.

Pump up your rating - IM Axel Smith (2 GM norms). Won Chesscafe book of the year 2013. Great book by a great coach and player. Not too expensive either.

Not as much effort wasted as trying to reach 1829 bitz rating.

Is that what the cool kids call their pieces?  "Hey dude, I threw bitz at him"

By the way... That is an 1829 bullet rating that I posess at the moment... It has been higher .... And yes,  My System and Chess Praxis By Nimzovitch helped me get there.
