Sure, you can have an agreement with your opponent that you will not look at a chess board regarding the game. Or you can have an agreement both would do this.

stopandthink

You can email your moves back and forth.

serious question, in blindfold chess if someone makes an illegal move what happens?  Is a third party required to verify a move is legal if neither player notices?

When done in live chess it's the same as when the pieces are visible, the move simply doesn't work.  In amber blind tournament it's done with the help of a computer so they know when it doesn't work.

In real life if both players don't notice then the move stays.  If one person has sight of the board and the other is playing blindfold handicap then they may lose (if they agreed illegal moves mean you lose) or they may simply tell the unsighted person that the move is illegal and to try again.

Usually it means you're forgetting the position though, so the game probably woudln't last long after that.  In real life if you forget the position it's best to just resign heh :)

Just turn off your monitor whilst playing!

I have invented a new form of chess, I call it "Incognito Chess." The way you play it is, you don't tell the person you are playing chess with that you are actually playing chess with him. Another form of this game is "Double Incognito Chess" in which you, yourself, don't know you are playing chess with someone who doesn't, himself, know you are playing chess with him. Both forms of chess are great fun but don't tell anyone! This idea can be extended to other things, email for example. An example of this is that I don't know in the least what I am saying.

in online games this cannot happens so , if someone try to make an illegal move on their device the move will not be recorded as in normal games

Just found out that this function is already here. You can change the pieces to blindfold. But I dont think your opponent can see if you have it on or not.

It has already been on this site for quite a while.
