Candidates 2020

So far for the Candidates 2020 tourney, we have Fabiano Caruana, Teimour Radjabov, Ding Liren and Wang Hao with definite spots.

Qualifying through the GP (at the moment) is Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and Alexander Grischuk, while the rating qualification is probably going to Anish Giri.

Who do you think will get the wild card? I'm leaning towards Nepo as my personal favorite for it but MVL, So and Alekseenko are all eligible as well and there's one more opening for eligibility as the highest non-qualifying place in the GP.

Who are you rooting for?

He is not a favourite of mine, but I really feels MVL deserved a shot. I can't remember a time he has been given one.

what about MVL - alekseenko short match for wild card for which MVLs manager wrote a letter to RCF

I'm rooting for Radjabov to win. I think he has the best chance against Carlsen.

I don't think Fabiano has much of a shot at winning as long as Carlsen is WC. Call me pessimistic, but that's my opinion. I do think that he is the favorite to win the Candidates, however.

6 months ago I would have put my money on Ding, but Fabi was so good in Wijk aan Zee and knows how to win a Candidates so I think he must be favourite. The only other player I would back is Grischuck - while he's a notch below Ding and Fabi he plays tournament chess and high pressure games very well, which is of course highly useful in the Candidates.
