That's because you are in check and moving the king or a pawn doesn't get you out of check. Since they don't get you out of check, they are not legal moves. Chess.com does not let you play such moves.

However, queen takes the queen on d1 would have gotten you out of check, temporarily.

Yes but the king can go to g2 move,I still dont understand?

The king can't go to g2 because of the bishop on that diagonal.

Yeah Kg2 Bxg2 is strong for black.

if that's his real profile pic you have to respect someone trying to learn a new skill as an adult. I'm in the same boat of learning chess as an old geezer (mid-30s). I've played chess since October 2018. it doesn't come as naturally to us as it does to these 10 year old GMs who had chess lessons from the time they were 5 years old. God, it's got to be so frustrating for 40 year old Kasparov when Magnus drew him at 11 or Vassily Ivanchuk to lose to a 12 year old. keep working at it newMark! welcome to chess.

you had a legal move left, you could take his queen with your queen, then he would recapture with the rook.

newMark27

Yes i know, but none of my figures woudnt move in any direction, neither the queen neither the other ones...thats why I am so suprised ..I coundt make a move what so ever..I thought it was a bug in the game...or a glitch, thats why I reported...

when your king is in check you must play only moves that will get him out of check - taking his queen with your queen was the only legal move available in that position. it's called a forced move- when no other option is available.

Ok,thank you for the reposnse... happy.png

Sure, I respect that, but I was wondering why there is a newMark26 and a newMark27, both of whom appear to be the same person. So far as I know, we're not allowed to have two accounts on this site.

I think some people register more than one account so they can get more than one free lesson or more than five tactics a day. To me it's worth being a premium member - I dont have the time for multiple passwords and logins, and I love the videos I get access too.

I have lost my gmail account ..and I coundt revcover it.Then I have made a new one,and registered to chess.com again because its a great website for playing chess...great expirience so far...cheers (hope they dont ban me or something..)

I have inadvertently hit the back arrow before and that leaves the board totally inactive. Nothing moves......it was totally perplexing at the time. Somehow I figured it out and probably lost.

Probably internet lag, I have lost many games due to it.
