can't remove unwanted friend from list

So I can't remove a friend from my list, which is frustrating and also a privacy violation because they can see when I'm online. I messaged chess,.com who confirmed it's a bug they are working on. I gave it a couple of days. it wasn't fixed. Messaged again saying if you don't remedy this problem I'm going to have to cancel my account. Generic response, not sure when we'll fix it, thanks for the message.
Any suggestions? Similar problems?
Haven't encountered an issue like this before. I assume you've tried this already but of course try and remove them as a friend by going on their profile but if that doesn't work maybe try blocking them if that's not also a bug on your end.
Go on play a friend and then you press the little dots next to the person you want to remove and the it will give you an option to remove them
