Can’t resign “in off line modus”

On iOS mobile I sometimes can’t resign. I get a message that I can’t do that “in off line modus”.
It leads to more or less silly endgames where I try to get mated asap and my opponent thinks I am playing around and starts not mating me. Not what I want.
Anyone?
