When it comes to blitz (skittles) Carlsen can play for hours on end over the internet but when it comes down to actually concentrating and analyzing in a serious game of chess over the board it is "too stressful and boring" to him. He is no different than Bobby Fischer when it comes refusing to defend his title. Despite the fact that Fischer was dominating for ten years and the only grandmaster the Soviets feared, Fischer also it seems got tired of chess. Both quit in their prime for the same reasons. The only difference is Fischer seemed to be lost and went into bizarre behaviors the last part of his life.
