castling?
You can also castle if the R's square on the K-side is under attack or the R's or N's squares on the Q side are under attack. If the following points are met, you can castle.
- The king must not have been moved (even if it returned to its original square)
- The rook must not have been moved (even if it returned toits original square)
- The K must not be in check
- None of the squares the K moves through or stops on may be under attack
ok. So I have been playing chess for years and have always learned that you can not castle when a square in the pathway of your castling is in check, but i didn't know if you were previously in check you could no longer castle? Say for example, you have never moved your rook or king, and nothing is in check, yet earlier your king was in check and you blocked it with another piece and did not yet move the king. Are you still no longer able to castle?
If so, would the people at a tournament know of these rules?
