change one rule in chess
Mine has to to deal with time:
If the person who runs out of time is up in points, then it's a draw.If it's even or down, then it's a loss.
So I can sacrifice a queen for mate in two and you can run out your time and draw? Sounds stupid.
Bring forth the hourglass time-measure in blitz-chess.. =)
" 'n there's a whole lotta flippin' going on"
But on a more serious note: Any grandmaster och highlevel ranked player will loose points for beeing a dramaqueen.
Who gives a shit if the lighting is wrong, the chairs colour is wrong blablabla..
- Then bring your own bloody chair...
You are there to play chess - nothing more - and if you are such a tightass that you have to adjust every little thing you can possibly imagine - just so you can be in "the right place or mindset" - you're not PLAYING CHESS.... You're just being a big baby with adjustment-issues and a bad case of OCD.
Bobby fischer certainly won a game or two just by being a prick - no ?
And if they bitch about the pricemoney - fine... everytime they bitch - you deduct 10%
I always thought it would be much better if promoted pawns could only become rooks, bishops or knights, but not queens. Currently, the rule of "Queen a pawn always" usually works. Even in the off chance that a knight promotion is stronger, if you get a pawn promoted to a queen you're still probably going to win
By only allowing the three pieces, you add so much more strategy and choice to the game. People would choose rooks typically, but there's a ton of situations where a bishop or knight is stronger. This completely changes endgame theory, of course. It does leave K+P vs. K winning (assuming you can promote) though, whereas if queens and rooks were both cut out, K+P vs. K would be an automatic draw.
i sometimes wonder what chess would be like if pawns had more movement. similar to the king, one square in any direction, but still only taking diagonally.
or if not...all directions, at least letting them back up. or maybe having them be able to utilize their "skip a space" move...whenever.
way back in elementary school... i can remember us kids playing "house rules" type chess. where whoever brought the board could make up reasonable rule shifts. messing with pawns was always popular.
I would make it a wrap around board, so a knight can hop off the board and show up on the other side!
Some of you guys should try playing Bughouse.
I suggest that a movement be made so we can have something like Wizard Chess (nerdy, I know) but how sweet would it be to take a queen and watch it be shanked or bruised or whatever.
And the taking of the king would give a more suitable end to a match.
Since white makes the first move, black should always be allowed a last move even if its chekmate. If black can check the white king then white can decide to take the black king making the game a draw or dealing with the check if he thinks he can win later. But im not sure if thats a good idea or not, it would make the game more complicated for white.
today it is forbidden to write down your move before moving however there is no consequence so I like to see this changed.
if you write down your move before moving you have to move it like if you touched a piece, you shouldn't be allowed to write Na3 and move Nc3.
and of course the point system 3 for a win 1 for draw should be changed.
you digress? or you undress?
