There is a problem in online chess 960 because Fritz does it well.

In real life, Pocket Fritz can scan the position and give you the best moves.

Let's make it happen!

*reads title of forum and creates "Fritz 960"*

Please forgive me. I  know what Fritz is, but  I have never  heard of "Pocket Fritz". What is it and how can it "scan" a position??

...Also does anyone know if there is an online version of the USCF's Rules of Chess??!? FIDE has  one but  I could not  locate one for the USCF,  just  various notes about which rules have been changed-- that does not mean there is not one out there;  it just means I could not locate one.

Thanks

I agree that Fischer Random chess should become the new chess, it would restrict cheating in that it would be more difficult to set up a position on a concealed device since the initial starting position would be different in each game. Also the game would benefit because people would not be able to memorize opening moves and thus they would have to actually play chess from the start.

So the answer to cheating in chess is to not play chess anymore?

Hmm, I admire your willingness to stamp out cheating but I'm not sure I agree with your approach.

I didn't say we should stop playing chess. I said we should play a different variant of chess, namely Fisher Random Chess.

Yes I understood what you were saying. I was making the point that I do not consider Fischer Random - or any other variant of chess - to be Chess.

I prefer your other option - naked chess. That would give me another excuse to delay my return to OTB play - I need to lose some weight first.

Hehehe. If nothing else it definitely would make for a more interesting  game.  ...though a good looking young  lady  might  have an unfair advantage: her male opponent might  be too distracted  to  play. Hey FIDE already  has some lame "Rule" about constitutes "appropriate dress", I  suspect for the same reason.

To me personally cheating is not a problem. I have played 576 blitz games in ca a month, and I could not understand that someone cheated. Maybe i got some losses and some extra hard matches because of computerassistance, but if it happened, it actually helped me refine my game.

I dont like to play computers, because I expect to loose, but when I dont know it is a computer, I think I can win, and the problem is solved.

I guess that when someone disconnects for a minute in a difficult position, they might communicate with a computer, but so what, in those situations nobody can help them.

I am satisfied with my opponents in every single game here, they have given me victory and they have highlighted  flaws in my game, helping me progress. After one month here i feel so strong that i dare enrolling in an IRL chessclub, and will do so the 2. of January.

One of the problems with 960 chess played OTB is that a computer is needed to set up the initial position.  Does anyone have knowledge about how to set up the board for chess 960 if no computer is immediately available?

really the cheating is very easy see, Bad opperture, great medium and fast win. 20-25 moves! ah! win win win win in the games of cheaters.

Cheating is destroying the integrity of this game. It is so bad anymore that I am pretty much decided to not play online anymore. So many cheaters, not really suprising considering the state of this planet and what humans all do to each other all the day long.

I have solved the electronic cheating problem. If anybody plays computermoves against me, I dont notice. If I lose, I lose, and I might analyze to find better moves for myself. If he punishes my inaccuracies, its fine. Its fine for me to get my inaccuracies highlighted in order to see them, and improve.

I'm very curious, can you link us some games where you believe your opponent cheated

I have played a few thousand games and can only recall a handful of games where I've suspected cheating, where my opponent played a long string of perfect moves and won out of a worse position.

I think there's a very large group of people on this site who can't handle losing and convince themselves their opponents cheat as a way to shield their own ego. If you refuse to believe your opponent beat you because of your mistakes then you'll never be able to fix them.

You and me have roughly the same rating, which means we meet players of roughly the same strenght. 1700-1800 online is far below the computers, so I guess most of the computer-assisted players plays in higher ratingenvironments. Therefore we seldom meet them.
