chess book delivery time

i ordered a chess book and it has not yet arrived.

The seller shipped the book out from the west coast on Monday. and it was sent via US postal service media mail.

It has been the end of the week, and the tracking says it just arrived in Philadelphia.  Why did it take so long to arrive?  I thought all of the mail is flown in airplanes.

UPS And Fedex send things in planes overnight.  For example, UPS has a large plane hub in Louisville, KY.

And Fedex has a big hub in Memphis, TN.  THey process so many packages every day.   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FedEx_Express

WHy is the us media mail service going slow for my chess book?

thanks

A VERY few times, media mail was delivered quickly to me. But 98% of the time, it's slow as molasses. I think it's usually still sent via pony express. Wink

In general the USPS isn't really slower than FedEx or UPS. Unless you get expedited shipping (which comes at a premium) then your package is going to take awhile no matter if you choose UPS, FedEx or the Postal Service. And at least with the USPS there's less chance they'll leave it on someone else's doorstep a block away (yes, this has happened to me with FedEx).

I feel your pain. USPS Media mail is an economical way to set certain type of media and it can take from 2 to 10 days, it varies by distance. Hang tight and it'll get there. By the way can you share where you got it from? For new books I usually go with Amazon since I have prime. Used books I shop around and really don't mind waiting a bit more since I am getting the book for cheap.

you should get a digital camera.

people in the 1950s probably used cameras that created black and white photographs
