I am looking for recommendations on good chess books to read, not instructional.  They can be historical or bibliographical, not fiction.  Just looking for something to read when I want to wind down.

Hey, a really good book on the history of chess is The Immortal Game by David Shenk.  It's really interesting and I learned about alot of other things when reading this book.

Another book I'm reading now is a new one from Larry Evans This Crazy World Of Chess  It's a fun read so far, and a good price.

Check em out:)

I've read these four in the past year and I've loved them all.

One I'd like to read but haven't yet is:

Yes, Chess Bitch is a good read.  I guess I didnt mention it because I figured most guys wouldnt want to read a book on chess women.  Oops:-)  I hope you do read it and like it ericmittens.

I want to read End Game: Kasparov vs. Short by Dominic Lawson.  Has anyone read this?  It's also known as Inner Game in the UK.

Thank you for your suggestions.  I have ordered the following three books from amazon.com, a great place to but books at bargain prices.

The Immortal Game: A History of Chess,

The Kings of New York: A Year Among the Geeks, Oddballs, and Geniuses Who Make Up America's Top High School Chess Team, and

Chess Bitch: Women In The Ultimate Intellectual Sport.

I appreciate the links to amazon,  It made ordering them easier.  I will let you know what I think of these books after I read them.

Teal, I read End Game approximately ten years ago.  It was interesting and gave an intriguing look at the match and its background.  I would recommend it.  As a matter of fact, it is still on my bookshelf and I may reread it sometime.

Yeah, I'm reading it now. I picked it up from the library. I'm really liking it so far.

I second Teal's suggestion (hey friend!) about "The Immortal Game" but one that is even better! is "King's Gambit" by Paul Hoffman. All of you ought to check it out! Amazing read.
