I am pretty sure that is a setting. You can make the board disappear.

this is site and cookie dependent. The site is deciding to get assets from different sites, secure or not, via cookies that have links tagged with depreciated attributes. 1 of those attributes is SameSite. SameSite (in the 3 big browsers) requires a whole host of specifics be met or the whole assets are simply considered as originating from a tracker site. VPNs and tracking protection routines catch this now. When you open up the specific non loading asset in a new tab alone, like say, a bishop you can't see, even with tracking protection on in strong browser against that like firefox, it will load. But it won't load with chess.com because of the new requirements for the cookie calls referencing assets based on them that are consider the SameSite. (chess.com and chesscomfiles.com are technically not the same server. The cookie calling procedures are probably outdated on each.) "strict-origin-when-cross-origin"

Install firefox, disable "Enhanced Tracking Protection" on chess.com and it should fix everything. Eventually the staff at chess.com will fix this issue and you can turn tracking protection back on for it. If it still doesn't work, you may have a VPN that that's catching the problem, that problem being some depreciated cookie tags in calls. "SameSite" I know this isn't the best fix but it's all I got. Good luck
