Chess.com can and should do something about abandonments

I don’t really think disconnections are that big of an issue but I do play a lot of longer games. 30 minute games for work on calculation/visualization and 3 minute games for work on intuition.

Most of the games I play are very long time controls e. g. 3 or 5 days so I have time to take care of my kids, screw my wife, watch a movie or series on NFLX or amazon, eat, study GM games and be a general menace to society

I'm not talking about daily games which give you enough room to breath and live your life. I'm talking about people who play 30 min games.
Maybe once, or twice, someone left a game of blitz. What did i do? I waited...yea...I know...what a novel concept.
Once someone had there account closed 6-7 moves in on a Correspondance game. Again...what did i do? i waited...I know...I know...what a radical idea. The things i come up with in my spare time.

Holy crap! How do you do this? Impressive! We have to make a thread about this to educate all members. They need to know this.
Yeah daily is technically the longest time control but I think it is too far removed from the flow of an actual game. I think the 30 minute games are much more similar to an otb game. I think that is also why the person that made this thread is having problems. It is harder for some people to sit and wait during a live game than to just go do something else and check back the next day.
still new here but have had some abandonment's. doesn't this program have a pause button. sometimes you must step away and your opponent is cool with it...but no pause.
If you think about it in real terms, ie. An OTB game, it's like walking away in the middle of a game and not coming back. It's bad manners, rude and not something you would do in real life. I suggest you don't do it just because it's on the Internet.
Some abandonments are obvious bad leavers and should be simple to identify with some code. For instance, when you are up against a forced checkmate. I think it is embarrassing that chess.com doesn’t act on this.

The site does. Those that habitually donate placed in the poor Sportsmanship pool.
Disconnections make it hard to play long time controls on this site.
