Almost once a day, I get a notification from chess.com providing me points for someone caught cheating in a previous game.

I think it would be nice if chess.com provided the game as well as the username along with the notification rather just giving away points.

just look at the points and look at the game in your games archive that matches

Why? Because there are games that I play that make me suspicious of the other players legitimacy so confirming my suspicion is nice.

Also, I’m not sure if chess.Com bans the account permanently or suspends temporarily, but I would like to block that player as well.

I play strictly blitz so I can knock out about 30 games a day so looking back thru my archives is too time consuming unfortunately

I agree. And how they figure the points to gift? Also three - fours times a day it’s obvious to me opponent’s are using engines especially in tournaments. Are there no admins monitoring tournaments?

Just got another notification and was provided 2 points and I haven’t played chess all day… well based on previous comment, if I was given 2 points then I assuming I got a draw against a cheater… what a loser, cheated and just got a draw.

That’s wild, I don’t understand the reason people cheat. It’s not like they are winning money and the rating system is pointless. I use to be rating driven but now just play to take a break from school work or whatever

Luckily I do not encounter many cheaters anymore, but one thing I did was to enter games that I thought were against cheaters in my library. That way, I could filter back a month or two after reporting, and check my accuracy vs. chess.com's cheat detection system.

They only refund points for games played in the last 40 days (IIRC), so it would be a simple matter of looking back at your game history and seeing who was banned.

And to answer your other question, when that happens for fair play reasons, the other account is permanently banned. The person can create a new account, but not use that one again (there is an appeals process, but they almost never overturn their initial ruling).

Idk but some tournaments offer membership rewards if you win them, so maybe they're trying to win something in particular and then just .. Stop cheating or something? Idk just a thought.

Thats something private between chesscom and the member that cheated. Thats pretty much humiliating the player who cheated. Ches.com tries to not let public shaming be a thing

I could swear that it was last 90 days (3 months) or last 100 games, whichever comes first so to speak.

Did they change it at some point to be 40 days?

You might be right. But it is time boxed and the time frame is not all that large.

Yeah, that is for sure. For instance one person can play against you and then play 100 bullet games in a few days, and you get nothing. At least it was like that 2 or so years ago.

I know the last cheater I played (according to chess.com), I got no points back from, and that was less than 2 months ago.
