Chess.com intentionally tries to make you think you need training

So I've been a loyal member of chess.com and I remember the good experience of being a new player and just casually login to enjoy a peaceful game. Now all they do is to try to ruin my confidence by aggressively suggesting that I need training, to the point of almost having to purchase extra stuff to be a 'good' player. I feel forced and cornered by the spamming membership offers and deals. Pop up advices keep appearing after games...

Feeling overwhelmed by all these malicious lessons, tactics, GM streams, and God-knows-how-to-solve puzzles

most people do need training though.

Anyways, none of their little popups really stop you from just logging in and playing. I don't really have much of an issue, but maybe that's because I use an adblocker.

Hello,

have a look at the Coach settings, you can customize it to your needs:

There is also a "Coach Nudges" setting in the home section:
https://www.chess.com/settings/home

Hope this help.

Its a commercial chess web service, tons of ads here (including chess training) are inevitable meh

Yeah chess training isn't as effective as most people think... Chessable courses, videos, puzzles, maybe have their place but nothing will build up your experience and intuition like just practising...

Go to settings > coach nudges.
#3 has provided a link.

With problems like this, the answer is usually in settings

I don't see how that is a problem: you don't want to train, don't train.

You feel attacked (?!?) by the statement that most players need training?

I don't use an adblocker, and I don't pay attention to commercials...

I'm absolutely positive I need training, and agree with you...

Now I understand that one might no WANT to train: casual player, not interested into getting better, no time (that's me until july tongue.png), but I'm absolutely sure that everybody needs training, and can and will benefit from it.

Then, that you don't want the training proposed by chess.com is another subject. But then, nobody forces you -or anyone- to click on ads...

Yep, thats me

If you don’t want to, just don’t click the ads. Chess.com as a free and very large website needs some way to make money, there’s not just going to be a “turn ads off” button. And, if you feel attacked by chess.com suggesting that you could use training to get better, you probably shouldn’t be on the internet.

This is so true though. It's passion, not wanting to train. Also training feels fun sometimes...

just close the pop-ups and tweak your settings. this site isn't just for chess, btw. its also a learning platform, and a social one. if its that bad then i dunno what to tell you because it asks you to review a game once everytime you close and open the site. just click the nice x and you'll be jussstttt fine.
