Chess.com Openings Survey!

Hello Forum!

I've always been curious about how different openings affect winning in online/amateur games, and I figured others might feel the same. So I'd like to run a brief little survey about everyone's preferences and experiences to find some correlations, and I'll post the results after we've gotten a nice critical mass of results. It's clearly not going to be perfect, but with some statistical inference even a small survey can paint a surprisingly accurate picture.

Here's the link to the survey I made: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HJ2DRRY

Also, if I could get support from mods, I'd be happy to offer a $20 Amazon gift card as a prize for a random survey taker that comments below as well, as a compensation for your time in satiating my curiosity!

Thanks!

Sqod

After running across 2-3 flaws in the survey within the first few questions I decided to stop: (1) Nobody 60 or over is allowed to take the survey? (2) Why ask what a person's response to the first move is, without specifying what the first move is? (You mixed responses to both e-pawn and d-pawn openings in the answers.) (3) You can already see what people's most common moves are in any online database, so the first part of the survey isn't very useful. (Maybe it gets more useful later?)

He's a rabid anti-ageite!

I think that a chessplayers opening is much less definitive than many think it is ...

BUT.

the survey was easy to complete.  Good luck with it.

-Apologies regarding the age, I mistakenly forgot to include the last option. Added in an other box

-The Black first move option is just there to gather which black opening players would prefer to play, regardless of white's opener. Of course white's opening move dictates what black's will be, but often times players only prepare 2 or perhaps 3 black openings anyways, to counter d4 and e4 respectively.

-The databases online are all tournament data as far as I can tell, and I wanted some data based on amateur, online play.

Sorry about the issues, nobody is obligated to take the survey, and it's clearly not official. i just thought some other would be curious like I was, and any decently random sample could be used for data inferences.

I invented the "A Bad Dad" Opening:

Robert_New_Alekhine

That spells "A Bad Dad"!

More problems: By games per day do you mean on chess.com, against people, against computers, or some combination of those? And what if a rating is provisional? Frown
