Could those individuals perhaps send me a private message? Not sure if their comments were deleted.

The best free database I know of is Million Base 2.2 (2.2 million "quality games" through 2015) which is here:
http://www.top-5000.nl/pgn.htm
Another excellent free one is Kingbase (1.8 million games after 1990) which is here:
http://www.kingbase-chess.net/
There's also a decent, free, online database that lets you step through the moves and gives you the Win-Draw-Loss results after reaching a position plus example games. It's here:
http://www.chessgames.com/perl/explorer
A set of databases, broken down into specific openings, with 1600 to 10,000+ in each opening pgn, is here:

The BEST database I've seen is not free. It's the 1.4 GB GigaKing database that comes with the for-pay Chess King. It's written in non-standard files (not pgn) that apparently can only be used with Chess King. I bought Chess King Standard 2015 in Dec. 2016 from Amazon for $27.95 and it came with a free upgrade, by download, to Chess King Standard 2016. The database is worth it to me because sometimes there are 20 games -not found in my other databases- of some unusual position I've reached where one can easily explore what plans were made in each game.
Hello Chess friends,
I am looking to download a chess database for Fritz. I want to import the database and use the "Blunder Check" feature and essentially have an offline tactics trainer for when I am in the car or on the plane.
I have found a few pgn's here and there but I have heard stories of a mass file with 1million or more pgn's. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you!
