Chess database to compare my games?

Hi,

I'm looking for the most comprehensive database of chess games from tournaments, other players, etc, or the best set of databases if more than one is ideal.

I was considering getting a chessgames.com premium membership like I have here, so I can look at positions more than 10 moves out.

I also downloaded Scid vs PC but I don't think it has a database loaded by default (or I am too unfamiliar with it to utilize that functionality correctly) because I can't find anything through it.

The purpose, of course, is to analyze my play and to improve.

Do you guys have advice, or tips? Thanks.

The pros mostly use Chessbase but it has a reputation for being difficult to use.  I use HIARCS although it's a bit of a pain to keep shuffling databases in and out.  It's easy to do but time consuming since it takes a while to load million plus databases.  The good news it's easy to search even for a computer Neanderthal like me.  Anyway, the question has been asked before and I'm sure you'll find enough information in these 50 threads to keep you busy for awhile doing your research.  Have fun!
