Chess Engine Performance

Here is the question: If you're running a chess engine, and it says; depth 14, for example. Is the suggested move at that given depth the same move whether the engine is running on a high performance computer, or a smart phone? Or, will more powerful hardware give a different/better move at the same depth? I welcome all replies, however, I would be greatly interested in the technically correct answer.

From my experience using chess engines (about 30 years), the same software will produce the same result at that same depth, regardless of the equipment used. That analysis will be found in a different amount of time depending on the hardware used. Of course, different engines may suggest different moves at that same depth. The higher performance computer will merely reach the conclusion (e.g. depth 14) quicker.
