yup.
Chess Grandmasters And Us Are The Same

The sole difference between GMs and us is that they're much better at chess.
A 1000 ranker and Bobby Fischer may enjoy chess the same, but I sincerely hope you never let them play chess with each other.

Agreed. Playing with a dead person would indeed be scary! ;)
The difference between chess GM's and most people is that chess GM's have chosen a consitent focus for their mania.
The difference between chess GM's and most truly successful people -- who are every bit as rare among the general population as GM's are among the chess population -- is that most truly successful people have chosen more lucrative or socially useful foci for their manias.
Everything is focus and perspective.
Many of us novices or intermediate chess players look up to Chess Grandmasters with huge and awesome respect, but I guess GMs and us ordinary chess players or enthusiasts are but the same. GMs have their own ratings too and if they do not devote time and efforts in their games chances are their ratings would become stagnant and not competitive enough to join Grandmasters level tournaments. When that happens, what difference does it make between us ordinary chess players and those loser Grandmasters, nothing! And for those of us who aspire and try hard to become somebody in chess, what's the use in the exercise when we both enjoy the game of chess in the same footing whether at a lowly level or at Grandmaster level? So, aspire no more because the chess we play today at our levels and the chess Grandmasters play at their own levels both bring fun and enjoyment with anyone in general.
