CHESS IN TV SERIES

Technically breaking the rules here, but always enjoyed the chess scene in Sherlock Homes movie.
There's a dvd extra with a breakdown of the game used for the movie if memory serves, an expert was brought in to insure it was the real deal so it isn't just lip service.

Jeeze... they can't even set up the board properly! White square on the right, peeps.

Here, now you can sleep tonight...

Surprised no one mentioned the old TV series "Have Gun Will Travel" where the star, Paladin, was a hired gun but also an accomplished chess player. His holster is my avatar. Another series, "Leverage", had an episode that centered around a chess tournament. Don't remember the name of the episode or which season.

Whenever I come across a chess game in a movie or television series, the first thing I do is look to see if the board is set up correctly (white on right). Sometimes, it isn't.
One of my favorite scenes from Cheers was when Sam played the wealthy Robin Colcord for a week's pay. Sam knew nothing about the game and felt he could make some easy money by cheating, using his patrons to make moves from a computer program who then relayed him the correct move through an earpiece that was very conspicuous on Sam's head but which he explained as him keeping up to date with a basketball game that was being broadcast on the radio.
So, it was very common to hear Sam say things like, "It's very interesting that you moved your pointy-hat piece to the third square from the bottom right next to my horsey guy. So what I'll do is, let's see, I'll move my horsey guy next to your king."
Sam won but he only wound up getting a penny from Robin who used creative accounting to declare one dollar a year in taxable income.

Then there was the time Frasier played. He was all impressed with his own prowess (yet hung a mate in 1).
Was that when he played Woody and got annoyed that Woody would pick up his piece high over the board and then bear it down by whistling and then making an explosion sound whenever he took one of Frasier's pieces?
