Chess is like a language, the top players are

very fluent at it. Talent can be developed

scientifically but you have to find first what you

are good at.

@kaynaght, hy brother i am not saying like that, this is i tries to say that if you don't know the language to speak if you want you can learn that language form anyone that knows that language, that teacher is fluent in that language, think like this, the teacher's reputation will higher in chess top rated players are teachers we can learn from them if you want,.......

tjepie

chess notation could be beconsiderd as a language but chess it self not.

shell_knight

It's like a language in that individual parts (letters / pieces) combine to form patterns (words / sounds) that are themselves symbols representing different ideas.  Those that know more patterns are more fluent.

Also, the number of positions a player can understand without having to do any calculation is one of the main differences that separate classes of players.

@tjepie,ya your right ,i am saying if chess is a language

Superqueen500

Chess is a language, an art, a science, a sport, a sex object etc.

It will be interesting to dabble in other board games akin to chess. Shogi and Xiangqi , for example. To be able to play them quite well will then be the equivalent of being multi-lingual ! In Germany this year, they have a bi-athlon( Hamburger Schach-Biathlon 2014 ). I think this is a tournament in which both chess and Chinese chess are played .

Lots of things are communicated during a long game between players of similar skill.

^that just makes it obvious that some languages are better than others

Chess has a more flexible structure than a lot of kindred games. For example, in Xiangqi the kings( generals ) are confined in their headquarters  and attack and defence are both very clearly defined . Most of the time, the elements of surprise are less prominent than that of chess. However, the nuances of each game can only be fathomed by more exposure. I don't think we can draw the conclusion that chess is unconditionally  superior to other kindred games ( chess variants is not the right term). The reality is that chess has such a huge following around the world that  kindred games have really little chance of competing with it or just being put in the limelight more often .

This is true.

Even though you misspelled it. Laughing

If you think chess is really a language, try and use it to pick-up hotties at the local pub.

"Hey baby, do you e4 here often?"

kleelof

You clever bunny.

Did you go through 48 squares to come up with that one?
