is chess recognised internationally as a sport ?
yes or no.
Internationally? Sure! Worldwide? No. There are tons of countries that don't view chess as a sport, or in this case "recognize" it.

i dunno, why do you?
chess is a sport, but anyone that agrees with that gets trolled on this site.
I'm not trolling! This is a view I genuinely share and I just want to have a normal discussion. Why do eople who oppose a simple opinion get branded as trolls? This isn't panning out at all the way I'd hoped. It was the same thing when I was in another forum with the same topic. Why can't I find a singular discussion where people are treating eachother equally and talking respectfully to each-other?
If I was being rude, then I am sorry, but our pov clashe,s and I am trying to set a middle ground on what I saying so if I am the problem I am sorry

You're fine. I was talking about other people.
again, it’s a bit ridiculous to say we need everyone on the planet to agree.
chess is a sport, just not to anyone who doesn’t want it to be.
i am sorry it’s so disappointing.
Not dissapointed at all. You can hae your opinion, and so can the millions of others, but I can have my own.
It's a game of skill, but not a sport. Sport is physical, and although playing long games of chess might be exhausting, it's not physical in that sense.
Erm actually according to my calculations, moving a piece is physical
Well you don't need to move a piece to play the game
@AGC-Gambit_YT he's kinda right you aren't giving any real arguments
1. Prove that it's not a sport, besides physical contact, the dictionary can't help you.
You can't think of anything, cuz y'all wimps resort to these two, so like yeah...
It doesn't need physical contact. If something requires sheer skill and has strategy, it is a sport.
And has heart to it.
And holy spam this blew up.

Nobody ever said a sport had to be physical, and the dictionary isn't the alpha so like yeah.
If you can play it with a drink in your hand, it's not a sport.
Ok that doesn't even make sense.
I can do many things with a drink in my hand, even soccer and tennis *skull*
bro who's downvoting the OG post lmao
Chess is a sport …. fact, but impossible to believe below a baseline IQ.
Bro everything you said past this and including this is so solid and true.
Like StandStarter got cooked.
bro who's downvoting the OG post lmao
It's 2:2 right now, I'll tip it upwards because most of this conversation has been, well... enlightening if you will. I'm not gonna change my stance, but I've realized a couple of things and I'm gonna rectify them.
well i can’t think of another reason why anyone would try to shove “chess is not a sport” down people’s throats. maybe i should meditate more on it.
At least in my case, I'm not trying to universalize my view, but jsut speak on the matter in a respectful way. I want to have a normal, solid debate. I promise you I'm not trolling, nor am I trying to hurt or change anyones mind. I just want to know why people think the way they think and how I can mold my opinion in a manner where I can apply these thoughts to my own.
