They would berate them for failing him (her) at critical moments, and lay blame for their losses on them, rather than themselves. Next she (he) would ask their advice on what to play...
Chess Lunatics

If a schizophrenic talked to their chess pieces during a game, what would they say?
I don't know about the schizophrenia part, but you can get some good advice about talking to your chess pieces here:

I watched the movie just last week - extremely sad, but funny as well. I agree with licenser - schizophrenics tend not to accept blame or consequences of their actions due to their detachment from 'reality' - but it would depend as well on their subtype, which in BF's case would be 'paranoid schizophrenic' which must have been a tremendous driving force for him to destroy all and sundry over the board.

Ken Queasy never even bothered to watch the movie made after his book...typical beatnik jerk (Louise Fletcher as Nurse Ratched is one of the alltime great well-meaning demons btw).
Well in my book analysis I analyzed the character as being selfish and using the group sessions to turn the patients against eachother and belittle themselves in order to expand her power. I wonder if she meant well by removing the front quarter of McMurphy's brain?
I just finished reading the book "One flew over the cuckoo's nest" (a book about loonies) and wrote a paper on it for school. Because I was playing moves on my CC between every other word I typed, it made me think of the connection to some crazy people like Fischer, and chess.
