Chess on Svalbard

Hi everyone,

Continuing my series of trips and articles on chess and culture around the world, I may be in Svalbard (the Arctic archipelago that's legally part of Norway) this summer. It would be great to learn about the chess culture there, if it exists, and meet local chess players.

If someone here is from Longyearbyen or another Svalbard town, or from mainland Norway but familiar with Svalbard, and you could message me about chess on the islands, that would be awesome.

Thanks, bunny. I'm going to Norway in a month, but unfortunately, will not be able to make it to Svalbard. Doing an article about chess in Norway in general would be silly these days.

My article about chess and community service in Germany is coming out in Chess Life in September. The one after that will be sometime in 2020, about a totally different part of the world.
